lash extension application questions

You know why most aspiring lash artists end up quitting? Well there's several reasons but there are 2 main ones......first, it feels too hard and they quit before they even really get started. Second, they don't know these simple little lashing secrets that I am going to share with you that will make the lashing process SO much easier!! Hey....I got you and I want you to succeed! Being a lash artist has blessed and changed my life so much that I want to help others have the same success!! So here we go, lash trouble shooting 101!

Common Lashing Mishaps and How to Troubleshoot Them

Even the most experienced lash artists encounter mishaps from time to time. The key is to stay calm and know how to troubleshoot these issues. Here are some common lashing mishaps for beginner lash artists and how to address them:

  1. Make sure you're using the correct lashes: I've done lash training in a few schools and often I see students trying to do classic lashing (one false lash to one real lash) using volume lash extensions. That right there will make you want to quit lashing immediately because that just doesn't work. Volume lashes are way too fine to place by themselves. Make sure if you are a beginner and are classic lashing that you are using .15 or .20 lash extensions. Here is a link to some great classic lash extensions. These are classic, flat lashes that are light weight but will give you a full dark lash line, classic look.

2. Lashing with the Glue that came in your lash training kit: Here's another problem that frustrates new lash artists. NOTHING IS STICKING!!! Well there is a good possiblity that the glue you're using is no good. Those kits can sit for awhile and most often the glue that comes in the training kits are cheap and no good. Save yourself the headache and get yourself some good, fresh glue! Here is my personal top pick glue that I use today in my own lash studio!

3. Sucky Tweezers: Yup, unfortunately those tweezers in your training kit aren't very good either. But I have good news! It's not you, it's those sucky tweezers you're using.😉 yes, yes I got you! Here are some fantastic lashing tweezers that are afordable as well. I always bring my top pic tweezers to trainings and I love the relief the students have when they finally try good tweezers.

Shining Crown Curved: These are my all time favorite, dominant hand lashing tweezer! They work well for classic or volume lashing. They have a great grip, are light weight and are at a fantastic price point!

45 Degree Angular Tip Tweezer: Say Goodbye to isolatting woes! These isolating tweezers are a game changer!! You'll realize, "Oh wait! isolating is not so bad.....I just needed some tweezers that actually work!" You're welcome, just get these and save your self the frustration.💛

Vetus Straight Tweezer: Need help with lash removals or isolating those difficult inner corners? These Vetus straight tweezers are a must have to keep in your magic lashing tool box. They're so sharp and precise they will slice right through those tiny little inner corner lashes as well as grip on tight to those hard to remove old lash extensions.

Tips for Preventing Lashing Mishaps

So now that we've covered supply issues that might stump your lashing career, let's move onto some other helpful tips in the lash room! Prevention is always better than a cure, especially when it comes to lash artistry. Here are some tips to help you prevent common lashing mishaps:

  1. Prepare Your Workspace: Before each lash appointment, ensure your workspace is clean, organized, and ready for your client. Have all your tools set up and ready to go. Have your lashing tape ripped and ready to go! Here's a picture of my own set up ready before my client has even arrived.

2. Proper Client Consultation: Take the time to thoroughly consult with your clients before the application process. Ask about any allergies, medical conditions, or expectations they may have. This will help you tailor your services to their specific needs and avoid any potential issues.

3. Shake, Shake, Shake!: Another common mishap that will cause a lot of frustration is if you don't take the time to Shake, Shake, Shake! Shake your glue for at least a minute or two before you begin! Trust me, this will make all the difference with your glue performance. I use this simple and inexpensive glue shaker!

3. Remember to Breath and to keep Going: My lashing motto, especially when I was first learning to lash has always been, "Take a deep breath and try again". I promise it will get easier if you just keep going and don't give up!

By following these tips, you can significantly minimize the risk of lashing mishaps and provide your clients with a safe and enjoyable experience for the both of you!
