How to Easily Create Your Own Online Course In The Beauty Industry

Ready to make some passive income with your beauty industry skills? Well that is an excellent idea! There are only so many clients you can see in one day which means there is only so much income you can make, so putting your skills into an online course has unlimited possibilities! It also has the potential to bring you more income than your day job! Believe it or not, it's not as difficult as it sounds. I've done it and I'm not especially smart or tech savvy. In fact, I don't even have an associates degree😁 I've only recently created my courses and I have already brought in close to $7,000 in course sales and rising🤞 Whoa!!! So if I can do it, so can you! I'm going to share with you all the things I've learned along the way so far so you too can start earning your own passive income! and I'm going to keep it real and simple. I'm a real person, working in the beauty industry just like you♥ As I grow and learn, I'll continue to update this post!
Step 1: Choose your course topic and target audience.......Nah, you already know what you want to teach and who, which is why you're reading this article.....Moving on to the good stuff!! Course Platforms!
There are some basic platforms and sites you are going to need. Luckily there are some really good course building sites that are extremely user friendly. I personally use the site Thinkific.com which has been great although you do typically have to pay a fee per month to host your course there. I also use Udemy.com because it's free to host there and they have a built in audience and marketing team which makes selling your course a little easier. Udemy does however take a percentage of your sales. There are advantages and disadvantages to both. I'll go through each and you can decide. The nice thing is that once all your content is created, and if you create it the same way I did (which I'll show you here in a sec), you can easily add your content to more than one platform. Then you can take advantage of everything those different platforms have to offer.
Lets start with the most significant differences between the Thinkific and Udemy Course Platforms:
A very big pro of using Udemy, like I already mentioned is that it already has a built in audience which makes selling your course more likely. Udemy also does a lot of marketing for you! So if you have zero interest in trying to market and sell your own course, go with Udemy, otherwise it's rare your course will even be found.
A very big pro of using Thinkific is that it is very customizable. You can easily create cool landing pages and you can set up evergreen funnels to keep your customers and fans buying more of your online courses and products. Also with Thinkific you can collect subscribers and create emailing lists. Thinkific is Ideal for course creators who want full control over their content, marketing and pricing.
Okay! On to creating that Course!
Now that you have your course platform chosen, we need some content! Once you create your first course it becomes very easy to create additional courses. Since you are in the beauty industry like me, Maybe you're not....either way this may be helpful, you'll probably use a similar layout as I use. This layout really helps to keep you organized and not get overwhelmed. I've taken a few course creation courses and they can make it very complicated and overwhelming. My motto is to keep it simple and it doesn't need to be perfect. B work is good so shoot for that.😁 So here we go, I break my courses down into different sections or modules. Typically my Layout or sections go as follows:
-Introduction to your course
-Lesson or Module 1- Supply list
-Lesson or Module 2-Consultation and intake form
-Lesson or Module 3- Set Up and Application
-Lesson or Module 4-Any additional steps
-Lesson or Module 5- Clean up and Sanitation
-Lesson or Module 6- Client After Care Instructions
-Helpful tips and Tricks Section
-Quick link Videos for most commonly asked questions

How to create your course lessons or Modules
So for each lesson or module, I create a simple video or slide show with the videos if you will. Sounds complicated but it really isn't and it can be pretty fun too! To do this, there is Another platform that is extremely useful in creating these slide shows and that is Canva.com. You can make slides of each step with a picture. Using your phone, you can make videos showing the process as well. I use a video editing app called video shop. There are lots of video editing apps to choose from. Just takes some playing around and persistence and you will quickly learn how to use these resources. I'll be creating a course soon showing exactly how I do it♥ In the mean time don't be afraid to jump in and get started!! YouTube is also a very helpful and free resource if you have any specific questions you need help with.
Upload your videos and Slides onto your course platform of choice!
It's really that simple! It does take some time and some persistence just like with anything you want to succeed at but it is completely doable! And you can definitely do it!!! Once all of your videos are made, it's very simple to upload to several course platforms. Another perk of creating an online course is that you can also provide affiliate links to any products you are using in your course! You can also provide links to print outs if you want to make your course extra special!
