Have you ever had to go to work and put on a happy face but in reality on the inside you felt like everything was falling apart? Those days are the worstš„ So first off, I'm so sorry if you're experiencing that right now and that's why you googled up this article. You're not alone, and I promise this pit in your stomach will passā¤. But how do we get through the work day when we're in the midst of it all and we're doing everything we can to hold back the tears? As an esthetician, our role is to provide a comforting, relaxing spa experience to our clients. However, being an esthetician is not without its challenges. Like any profession, we face personal struggles that can sometimes affect our ability to maintain professionalism. Also, it's difficult not to blurt out and talk about our personal struggles with our clients since it's such an intimate and personal atmosphere. Although sometimes it is nice to be able to connect and share with certain clients.....One of the perks of our job I thinkš¤. So maybe as you can tell, I've been there. Those hard days hit everybody, where you just want to crawl back in bed and pull the sheets over your head and never come out. But we can't do that! The show must go on and bills must still be paid!
So How do we do it, Even when we feel we can't?
I've got a few tricks up my sleeve! First, we need to recognize how powerful our thoughts are! Every emotion or feeling is first created by a thought. We believe whatever we tell ourselves. Which is good news because that means we have some control over our feelings and emotions. It isn't easy to control our thoughts, it takes some practice but anytime you have a thought that doesn't make you feel good or starts to create some anxiety, redirect it to something positive. If I'm in a real funk, I conscientiously start counting my blessings and start naming off the things I am grateful for. Gratitude is the key ingredient to getting sunshine back into your mind. Push away all negativity! Negativity will never do you any good and it'll just make you feel awful. And Lastly, Choose Hope or Faith or whatever you would like to call it and remember and know that all things will work together for your good, even the "bad" if you can stay in a state of gratitude. Goodness will come even from our trials.
Understanding the personal challenges of an Esthetician
Being an esthetician requires a unique set of skills, but it also demands a great deal of emotional and mental energy. We are often the ones clients turn to when they need a listening ear or a shoulder to lean on. We may encounter clients who are going through difficult times, such as dealing with family or marital issues or health issues. Also, skin conditions that affect their self-esteem or experiencing the stress of a major life event. It is our privilege and I think one of our life callings to provide support and empathy during these moments, but it can take a toll on our own emotional well-being. In addition to providing support to others, we have our own personal struggles that we are trying to manage. In addition to the emotional challenges, estheticians also face physical demands. Standing for long hours, performing repetitive motions, and using various skincare products and tools can lead to physical discomfort and fatigue. Also, the pressure to maintain a flawless appearance ourselves adds an additional layer of stress. All these personal challenges can make it difficult for estheticians to separate their personal lives from their professional ones, potentially affecting our ability to maintain professionalism and our composure.

Maintaining professionalism is crucial for estheticians as it establishes trust, credibility, and fosters a positive working environment. Clients rely on us to provide expert advice and guidance in skincare and in our other services. They also rely on us to make them feel comfortable and secure.

This includes establishing appropriate communication channels, setting realistic expectations, and knowing when to say no. By setting boundaries, we can ensure that our personal lives are not compromised, allowing us to be fully present and focused on our professional responsibilities.
